Frequently Asked Questions
You are able to register domain names without ordering a webhosting package. Select 'domain name registration only' when ordering.
We are currently able to register .co.za, .com, .biz, .org, and .net domain names.
Other domain names registrations such as co.uk, .tv, .capetown and more are also available once you have registered.
Domain name registration is dependent upon third party registrars.
Use our ordering tool to check the availability of the required domain name. See our current Domain Pricing.
You will be able to login for FTP and setup to your website within 1-6 hours of placing your order. New domain registrations are subject to successful placement with third party registrars.
For new domains it takes about 24 hours for the website domain to become active via DNS (Domain Name Service).
A temporary index page bearing your domain name is automatically placed on your website.
Please note that for arranged domain transfers it will take about 24 hours to transfer the existing website.
We guarantee minimal disruption to existing email and web services during the transfer of your domain.
Unless you are using webmaster@yourdomain.co.za (the default email address), first create the email address you wish to use in your website control panel together with a password, e.g. yourname@yourserver.co.za.
You may be using any one of several popular email clients including Outlook, Outlook Express, Thunderbird, Entourage, and so on. Generally, you will need to add a POP server for receiving mail, and an SMTP server for sending mail.
Go to the email client options/setup/preferences/accounts and create a new mail account. Enter these settings:
Your POP server name will be pop.yourdomain.co.za
Your SMTP server name will be smtp.yourdomain.co.za
Your username is the same as the full email address e.g. yourname@yourserver.co.za
Your password is as you entered it.
Some email clients will only request the password when you attempt to access the server.
Please note that for the SMTP server setting you must select the 'authenticate by POP first' or 'require password for SMTP' option.
Email users who use Mweb as their dial-up service provider must either set their SMTP port to 587 (and open this port on the firewall) or use smtp.mweb.co.za on port 25 to send mail.
An automated email renewal reminder will be emailed to you one to two months before the annual renewal date.
If you wish to renew the domain, you can ignore the reminder and your domain will be automatically renewed.
To terminate the domain, click on the link provided to supply a termination instruction. Domains not renewed will again become available to the public for registration.
If you are not 100% happy with your hosting package, you may cancel your account within 30 days.
We offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee. Send us an email within 30 days if you are not satisfied with your webhosting package and we will gladly cancel your account, no questions asked.
Please note that if you have successfully registered a domain name, you will be liable for the domain registration cost. These costs are incurred with a third party registrar and are therefore not refundable.
Domain names registered normally expire after one year.
Please ensure that you have registered with the correct email address.
If the email address is correct, and you still do not receive the email, you may need to whitelist *@cybnet.co.za with your email service provider.
If this fails please contact support.
