Google Earth Adds SA Buildings in 3D2010-05-19 10:25:00
Google Earth recently added eleven cities to its Google Building Maker, a web-based tool that allows users to view buildings on Google Earth in 3D, nine of which were South African cities.
The South African cities added were Bloemfontein, Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg, Nelspruit, Polokwane, Port Elizabeth and Pretoria, as well as the town of Phokeng in the North West Province.
Google Building Maker is a web interface that allows users to create simple 3D buildings and submit them to Google, who will moderate them and upload the more acceptable ones to Google Earth, making them public for millions of users to see.
To use the Google Building Maker tool you need to have the Google Earth plug-in installed on your browser, if it's missing you will be prompted to download it.
The other cities that Google recently added were Mulhouse, in France, and Barcelona in Spain.
